Services to Alumni

As a graduate of the Cooley Law School you are offered many of the library privileges you enjoyed as a student.
Staff at the circulation desk will update your patron status to "Alum" in CoolCat, the law library's online catalog. Barcodes are automatically printed on your Alumni ID, and this serves as your library card.

With your status updated, you are able to check out any circulating library item, including reserve materials. The Library purchases many items especially useful to the newer attorney.

Document Delivery Services

For a nominal fee, the Cooley Law Libraries provide a document delivery service for our alumni. When you use this service, be sure to supply us with a complete citation. You must also agree to comply with federal copyright laws in making these requests. For additional information, please visit our document delivery page here or contact a Law library near you.

Electronic Access After Graduation

Bloomberg Law - Full access to Bloomberg Law is available to you for 6 months after you graduate.
Lexis Advanced - Full access to Lexis Advanced is available to you on the following schedule based on your graduation date: May - December 31st, September - June 30th, January - June 30th
Westlaw - Full access to Westlaw is available to you for 18 months after you graduate - effective May 2018.
Other Electronic Resources - The library subscribes to a variety of electronic resources (such as Lexis Nexis Digital, and WestlawNext Patron Access). Most sources are IP based and available only from a Cooley networked PC. To view a list and description of the electronic resources available to you, please visit our electronic resources page here.

Reference Services

The libraries have reference librarians who are happy to help you with your research questions. The reference desk is staffed seven days a week during the school term, and the Library is open 106 hours per week for your convenience. Our e-mail reference service, Ask A Librarian, is available 24 hours a day. We have a toll free reference number: 1-866-REF-DESK (1-866-733-3375) where you may reach us from anywhere in the United States.

Research Guides

To further assist you in your research, the Cooley Librarians have created and continuously maintain a number of research guides on a variety of legal topics.
