Career and Professional Development
WMU-Cooley Law School has for decades been a national leader in preparing students to become outstanding practitioners. Our curriculum stresses not just the law but how to practice it well. Taught by a faculty of experts in law practice, our students graduate with skills needed to be capable lawyers from the start of their careers.
Since 2013, WMU-Cooley Law School has hosted 24 MentorJet© speed mentoring programs with over 700 students from all class levels participating. MentorJet is sponsored by the National Association of Women Judges. Networking is one of the most important methods students find jobs after graduation. In this event, students have the opportunity to network with judges and attorneys, in a speed networking manner, spending six minutes with each “Speed Mentor.” Mentoring and career connections have been forged from this signature event at WMU-Cooley, as well as long-lasting professional relationships within the legal community.
Our WMU-Cooley law students need mentors, now especially. We encourage you to sign up to be a supervisor to a WMU-Cooley student. Not only will you be helping someone in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, you will be mentoring and guiding a law student from the WMU-Cooley family. Sign up with the Career and Professional Development Office at [email protected]. Please leave your contact information.
Our Office of Career and Professional Development serves students, alumni, and employers worldwide by matching availability with opportunity. Whether you are looking for a job or you are looking to hire, we can help you.
