Career and Professional Development
WMU-Cooley Law School has for decades been a national leader in preparing students to become outstanding practitioners. Our curriculum stresses not just the law but how to practice it well. Taught by a faculty of experts in law practice, our students graduate with skills needed to be capable lawyers from the start of their careers.
Speed Mentoring
Since 2013, WMU-Cooley Law School has hosted 24 MentorJet© speed mentoring programs with over 700 students from all class levels participating. MentorJet© is sponsored by the National Association of Women Judges. New this year at the Tampa Bay campus is Ten Minute Mentoring. Networking is one of the most important methods for students to find jobs after graduation. In these events, students have the opportunity to network with judges and attorneys, in a speed networking manner, spending either six or 10 minutes with each “Speed Mentor.” Mentoring and career connections have been forged from these signature events at WMU-Cooley, as well as long-lasting professional relationships within the legal community.
