Statement of Board Chair Lawrence Nolan on Passing of Judge Thomas E. Brennan

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors of the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School and the entire Cooley Law School family, I send my heartfelt condolences to Polly and the entire Brennan family at the news of the passing of Justice Thomas E. Brennan.

The founding of Cooley Law School by Tom Brennan was only one of Tom’s dreams that came true. For those of us who knew Tom, we understood that there were no limits to his dreams.

His dreams became our dreams. His dreams made it possible to dream and succeed. Tom’s greatest dreams of living a life that was full of grace, truth, and spiritual beliefs inspired all of us to become better people and live fuller lives.

I, for one, can only say how lucky and blessed I was to have had the mentorship and encouragement of one of the greatest men that I have ever known. A deeply spiritual Irish Catholic man has now reached his final resting place.

God Bless Thomas Emmett Brennan, his entire family and all of our lives that he touched. May he rest in peace and the holiness of all the Saints.
