Associate Director of Advancement—Major Gifts

Cooley Law School, with locations in Michigan and Florida, seeks an Associate Director of Advancement—Major Gifts in the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office. This position may be located at the Lansing, MI or Tampa, FL campus.

The Associate Director of Advancement—Major Gifts will manage and implement development efforts raising funds from alumni, corporations, and other constituents of the Law School; focus on developing and cultivating a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation prospects and donors for major gifts to the Law School; and, use best practices and analytics to expand the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of friends and major donors to fund Law School’s strategic initiatives and priorities. Frequent travel, and evening and weekend hours required.

Successful candidates will possess all or many of the following qualifications and/or skills:  Bachelor’s degree required or at least five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; and, a minimum of five years of experience in fundraising with emphasis on major gifts including from corporations and foundations, higher education context desired; demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors and gifts, and recruiting and managing volunteers; knowledge of alumni and donor software (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge); event and project management skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work individually and in a team; ability to handle confidential information; good time management and ability to multitask; and, ability to interact positively with individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
