WMU-Cooley Law School Board of Directors Chairman Lawrence P. Nolan (Cooley Class, 1976) and Detroit area attorney Brian McKeen (Wing Class, 1982) were selected as members of Michigan Lawyers Weekly magazine’s inaugural Hall of Fame class during a luncheon at the Detroit Marriott Troy, on May 30.
Nolan, president of Nolan Thomsen & Villas PC, represents clients in civil litigation, personal injury, and wrongful death matters. He has been a member of WMU-Cooley’s Board of Directors for 37 years and served as the State Bar of Michigan’s 82nd president.

During the ceremony, Nolan was recognized for his efforts to help create diversity in the legal field. Nolan saw the need for diversity in the legal profession and his goal was to make the bar look more like the society it serves. He played a key role in efforts to diversity enrollment at WMU-Cooley.
McKeen is founder and president of Detroit-based McKeen & Associates PC, which specializes in medical malpractice and wrongful death matters. He is a member of the American Association for Justice Board of Governors and past president of the Michigan Association of Justice. He lectures internationally on medical malpractice and birth trauma and is credited for winning of Michigan’s largest medical malpractice verdicts.
