Linda K. Rexer, former executive director of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, spoke to law students about nonprofit board governance at WMU-Cooley Law School’s Lansing campus, Dec. 1.
During her presentation, “Real Talk About Nonprofit Board Governance,” Rexer shared lessons she learned about the importance of leadership and partnership in governance throughout her career. Rexer served as the first executive director of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. During her tenure, the foundation grew to an entity that has awarded up to $11 million annually.
Rexer provided state and national leadership for access to justice as a founding member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Access to Justice Task Force in 1997. One of Rexer’s many legacies was the creation of the national award winning Michigan Legal Help Program. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame.
