“Education expands your knowledge and your ability to relate with and in the world. Education helps you to think critically, to argue persuasively and to think about things from many different perspectives. These abilities in turn also help you navigate the difficulties that life presents, to map problems on to a broader understanding of how things work.” -Justice Sonia Sotomayor

I am the Director of the Lansing Academic Resource Center. I joined Cooley Law School as an Adjunct Professor in 2008 and have taught at both the Michigan and Tampa Bay campuses. In addition to serving the law school as the Director of the Lansing Academic Resource Center, I am an Adjunct Professor in the Constitutional Law Department. I have also taught Contracts, Sales and Negotiable Instruments, Agricultural Law, Conflict of Laws, and various bar exam preparation courses. I have vast experience in bar exam preparation having worked for BARBRI and Quimbee. Helping students succeed on the bar exam remains one of my greatest joys.

Prior to joining the Academic Resource Center, I served as the Associate Director of the Career and Professional Development Office. I am also the faculty advisor for Phi Delta Phi and the Heath Law Organization and a proud Cooley alumna.

I began my legal career with the law office of Mertens, Laxton & Clement, PLLC and served as a Public Defender in Ingham County. I was also an attorney at the Abood Law Firm and have assisted the Rivet Health Law, PLC with complex policy and compliance matters.

I have a personal interest in special education advocacy and DEI initiatives. In my spare time I enjoy visiting art exhibitions and watching documentaries.
