Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, with locations in Michigan and Florida, seeks an Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid to serve in a school-wide role. This position will be located at the Lansing, MI campus.
The Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid reports to the Senior Vice President and Associate Dean of the Administration, Enrollment and Student Services division (AESS) and is a member of the AESS senior staff. Major responsibilities include: Overall administration of the admissions and financial aid functional areas; supervise staff responsible for carrying out admissions and financial aid duties; ensure compliance with state and federal financial aid regulations and requirements; ensure compliance with admissions standards required by accrediting bodies; know the policies and procedures for applying to the law school, qualifying for admission, initial enrollment, and matriculation; develop sound and effective marketing and recruitment strategies; and coordinate debt and default management activities among other responsibilities.
Successful candidates will possess all or many of the following qualifications and/or skills: Master’s degree is required, Juris Doctor, Ph.D, or Ed.D. in higher education administration is preferred, along with 3 to 5 years of related experience within a higher education institution. The position requires qualifications that include excellent communication, organizational, statistical analysis, problem-solving, computer, and management skills. In addition, the ability to interact positively with individuals and constituencies from a variety of diverse background is a must.
