Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School seeks a full time Head of Public Services for its Grand Rapids, Michigan campus. The successful candidate will coordinate and supervise staff in day-to-day activities. Manage the implementation of procedures and policies for Reference, Circulation, interlibrary loan, document delivery, and stack management. Provide leadership in establishing, implementing and improving instructional and user service policies and procedures. Plan new technology based services including electronic document delivery, electronic reference services, enhanced automated inventory, and circulation processes. Assist with department planning. Conduct appropriate need assessments and recommends budgeting, scheduling, policy and procedural changes. Represent the library director for the Grand Rapids campus.
Qualifications: M.L.S. and Juris Doctor are required. Significant experience in a law library may be substituted for one of the degrees. Minimum of five years professional law library experience, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity. Working knowledge of legal materials and legal research. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and management skills. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Requires leadership skills to guide a team as part of a mulit-location library.
