Dean Michael P. Cox comes to Cooley from the University of Oklahoma. Professor Gerald W. Boston, Barry H. Dubner, Charles A. Palmer, James M. Peden, and Mary E. Phelan join the Cooley faculty.

The law school hosts the new Federal Court Dedication. Lawyers and judges from across Michigan attend.

Professor Boston's article "Punitive Damages and the Eighth Amendment: Application of the Excessive fines Clause," is cited by the U.S. Supreme Court.
