How we ranked the ABA data

Judging the Law Schools uses a simple ranking system -

We take the objective consumer data reported in the ABA-LSAC Official Guide to Law Schools and rank 40 factors that the ABA purports in that publication to be important to law school selection.

Each of the 40 factors in the rankings is given equal weight (2.5% each), which reduces the impact of any single factor on the overall rankings.

These rankings are available for you to select the comparative data you feel are important. Compare schools by state, by individual schools, or by any combination of the 40 factors.

These 40 factors also relate to the Carnegie Foundation's recommendations on how to most effectively educate future lawyers so that they will meet the needs of legal practitioners and the public the profession is pledged to serve.
