Types of Admission
Applicants can qualify for admission to Cooley in a number of ways. An applicant simply needs to apply and eligibility for the type of admission offer will be determined by admissions personnel.
1. Regular
Requirement: Minimum LSAT score of 143 and a minimum Cooley Index of 187.
Applicants are eligible to select the schedule option of their choice. Please visit the scholarships page for the most up-to-date information on scholarships.
2. Part-Time
Requirement: 189-197 Cooley Index (does not have a minimum 143 LSAT) or 146-148 LSAT (does not have a minimum 187 Cooley Index)
Applicants are limited to a maximum of 12 credit hours in their first semester of enrollment.

3. Part-Time Restricted
Requirement: 186-188 Cooley Index (does not have a minimum 143 LSAT) or 144-145 LSAT (does not have a minimum 187 Cooley Index)
Applicants are limited to a maximum of 9 credit hours in their first semester of enrollment.
Extended, Part-time schedule - For students who must work while attending law school.
4. Qualifying Program
Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for regular, part-time, or part-time restricted admission.
Admissions Office staff may review and consider the applicant's LSAT writing sample for consideration for Cooley's Professional Exploration Program (PEP). Applicants who are offered admission after completion of the qualifying program may choose to attend classes at three of Cooley's five campuses: Lansing, Auburn Hills, or Grand Rapids. Students may take a maximum of 9 credit hours for the first two semesters. Participation in academic support programs is required.
