U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy To Teach At Auburn Hills Campus
The Thomas M. Cooley Law School announced today that Stephen Murphy, Eastern District U.S. attorney, will teach as a visiting professor at the Auburn Hills campus, 2630 Featherstone Road, beginning this May. Murphy will teach Evidence, a core class in Cooley’s Juris Doctor program.
Mr. Murphy was hired by the U.S. Department of Justice under its prestigious honors program, and then served as a trial attorney for the department for more than 12 years, first with the Civil and Tax Divisions in Washington, D.C., and then as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division in Detroit, where he also handled several high-profile, white-collar crime cases. He was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate in 2005 as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District.
"Evidence is one of the most important law school courses for any prospective student interested in trial litigation as a career," Cooley Associate Dean John Nussbaumer said. "Mr. Murphy brings a wealth of relevant experience that will truly be an asset to our students. We are fortunate to have so many distinguished members of the legal community helping to guide the lawyers of tomorrow at Cooley."
Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Cooley Law School is the largest law school in the country. Founded in 1972, it operates J.D. programs across Michigan in downtown Lansing, in Auburn Hills, and in downtown Grand Rapids.
