Cooley Law School Releases First-Ever Ethics Journal
Journal’s debut coincides with National Ethics Awareness Month
The Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Center for Ethics and Responsibility has released its inaugural ethics journal. The journal’s release coincides with the beginning of National Ethics Awareness Month.
Officially called the Cooley Journal of Ethics and Responsibility, the journal includes speeches and articles from a Pulitzer Prize winner, a former United States president, a state Supreme Court justice, the chair of the American Bar Association’s committee on professionalism and one of Timothy McVeigh’s defense counsels in the Oklahoma bombing case.
The journal is available online at http://www.cooley.edu/ethics/law/journal.html and will be available in the Ethics Library at Cooley’s Lansing Campus, which has one of the nation’s largest collections of ethics and professionalism titles.
“The Center for Ethics and Responsibility exists to inspire integrity, serve society and leave a legacy of good governance and justice under the rule of law,” Professor William Wagner said. “This journal is a great step forward in our challenge to inspire, those not only in the Cooley community, but across the world.”
“As the country’s largest law school, we believe it is part of our duty to advance the profession of law,” Cooley Dean and President Don LeDuc said. “Publishing this journal helps us promote the fact that integrity is an important piece of what we do.”
Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham authored the journal’s introduction. Abraham is a former Cooley faculty member.
Founded in 1972, Cooley Law School is the largest law school in the country. Cooley has three campuses across Michigan: its campus in downtown Lansing, its downtown Grand Rapids campus in west Michigan and its Rochester/Oakland University campus in southeast Michigan. In addition to the Juris Doctor program, students at Cooley can also pursue a Master of Laws degree in taxation or intellectual property.
