Cooley Students Take Pledge, Commit to Pro Bono Service

Students, faculty, and practicing attorneys from the community take the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Pro Bono Pledge at Cooley’s Ann Arbor campus.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Hon. Joseph F. Burke of the 15th Judicial District Court administered the Thomas M. Cooley Pro Bono Pledge to students, faculty, and practicing attorneys at Cooley’s Ann Arbor campus. These individuals pledged to participate in pro bono activities in the coming year and continue to do so every year throughout their legal careers. The pledge encourages attorneys to comply with or exceed the pro bono expectations of their state bar associations. In 2012, students from Cooley’s five campuses provided more than 11,333 hours of pro bono service.

On Thursday, Oct. 17, Michigan Supreme Court Justice Michael Cavanagh administered the pro bono pledge to Cooley students, faculty, and practicing attorneys, at the school’s Lansing campus. More than 100 individuals pledged to participate in pro bono activities in the coming year and continue to do so every year throughout their legal careers and to comply with or exceed the pro bono expectations of their state bar associations. In 2012, students from Cooley Law School’s Lansing campus provided more than 3,300 hours of pro bono work in the community.
