Cooley Law School Alumni Association Golf Benefit Raises $43,000
The 22nd annual Alumni Association Golf Benefit, held for the Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Country Club of Lansing on June 20, was a sold-out success, raising $43,000 for the scholarship fund. The event was the best ever, setting new records for attendance with 168 golfers resulting in the event’s surpassing its fund raising goal. The Alumni Memorial Scholarship is awarded based upon financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and other considerations. The generosity of the golfers and sponsors is greatly appreciated by the Alumni Association and Cooley’s students.
The first place team consisted of Mike Boyle, Jason Kohn, Mark Jerant, and Steve Cuzzort. The second place team consisted of Ken Bailey, Adam Jones, Mike Gnewkowski, and Chad Barton. The third place team consisted of Jerry Rohden, Don Walker, and Jill Vantine.
In the category of individual awards, Men’s and Women’s Longest Putt was won by Paul Cain and Vicki Van Denburg, the Men’s and Women’s Closest to the Pin Award was won by Steve Cuzzort and Jill Vantine, and the Longest Drive on the Fairway Award went to Emily Taylor for the women and David Boyd for the men. Unfortunately, no one won the hole-in-one contest prize, $10,000 trip of choice and $10,000 to be donated to the Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Alumni Association wishes to thank all of our golfers, sponsors, and donors who made this event so successful and wish to invite everyone to attend the 23rd Annual Alumni Memorial Scholarship Benefit on June 18, 2012. We also wish to give special thanks to the Rockford Development and Construction of Grand Rapids for being our Event Sponsor and Plante Moran, PLLC for their generous sponsorship of golf prizes.
