Cooley Law School's Service to Soldiers program holds "Basic Training" session for Florida attorneys
The Thomas M. Cooley Law School launched a Florida expansion of its Service to Soldiers: Legal Assistance Referral Program on Feb. 17 with a "Basic Training" session that covered some of the basics of representing military clients, including estate planning, family law, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), and the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA).

More than 70 attorneys attended Cooley Law School's "basic training" session on Feb. 17. The session, which was led by Brigadier General Michael McDaniel and Colonel John Odom, covered some of the basics of representing military clients. Organizers of the session also shared opportunities with attendees for supporting military members and families through pro bono service. The session was part of Cooley's Service to Soldiers: Legal Assistance Referral Program, which offers referrals to appropriate local, pro bono attorneys who assist members of the military in resolving legal issues.
