Judge Markey Presented With Marion Hilligan Public Service Award

Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Jane Markey, center, was presented with the Marion Hilligan Public Service Award during Law Day ceremonies in Grand Rapids. The Hilligan Award is given annually in recognition of "contributions by a lawyer in public service to area governmental bodies or community organizations, reflecting greater individual responsibility in promoting public health and welfare through law.

Grand Rapids campus Associate Dean Nelson Miller said Judge Markey was a tireless public servant who continues to share her formidable talent wherever she can do the most good. Judge Markey has served for more than 15+ years on the Michigan Court of Appeals, and has been re-elected three times.

She also served as an elected 61st District Court judge. Previously, she was a member of Dykema Gossett for seven, and also served as a Court of Appeals pre-hearing attorney after graduating from Cooley.
