Cooley Law School Honored for Community Service Work with Kids

Cooley Law School was honored March 10 by the Michigan Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) for its ongoing support of public recreation and park programs in the community. The nomination for the award was made by Emily Stevens, Coordinator of Special Recreation Services for the city of Lansing.

"Cooley Law School has been a great partner to Lansing Parks and Recreation. Together, we help Lansing youth experience a great American pastime without worrying about financial constraints. The youth love this field trip and look forward to it every year. Lansing Parks and Recreation is grateful to Cooley Law School for its commitment to the Cooley For Kids program,” Stevens said.

Cooley was presented with the organization's 2009 Community Service Award for its annual Cooley for Kids Day, a program in which the law school sends hundred of kids to see the Lansing Lugnuts minor league baseball team play at what is now named Cooley Law School Stadium in Lansing.

"We applaud your commitment to recreation and parks services," said MRPA Awards Chair Carla Scruggs in a letter to Cooley. "You help create community through people, parks and programs. Your generous gift of time and talent is greatly appreciated and is an example to our entire state."
