The Howard Soifer Memorial Lecture Series, held in honor of the late Cooley graduate Howard Soifer (1949-2003), offers yearly presentations on sports and entertainment law and has included past speakers like Steve Smith, Michigan State University graduate and National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star; Russell Granik, former NBA deputy commissioner; Steve Garvey, 10-time Major League Baseball All-Star first baseman; Ross Berlin, Professional Golf Association tour vice president of player affairs; Jeffrey Yellen, counsel for legendary boxing trainer Emmanuel Steward; and Kevin Roragen, a leading Lansing-area sports law attorney.
Thanks to gifts from Soifer’s family, peers, colleagues and friends, the program is fully endowed to continue in perpetuity.
