This year’s conference features an interactive Editing Workshop on Saturday, March 23, from 9 to 11:20 a.m. Professor Joseph Kimble, one of the nation's top legal editors, will lead this workshop.
You will get the most out of his instruction by editing a short five-page excerpt available for download below. (There are two versions of the Excerpt to Edit, one in Word and one in PDF. Edit the article in either format.)
There is also a list of Professor Kimble's editing tips, andThe Scribes Journal of Legal Writing article - A Study in Editing which Professor Kimble will discuss during his presentation.
The conference will raffle a new iPad, a Kaplan Complete Bar-Review Course, and other prizes.
To enter the raffle, you must edit the excerpt and submit it to Becky McAlpine at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, March 22, at 6 p.m.
Please do not edit the footnotes. Focus just on the text. You may edit either with track changes or the old-fashioned way of marking up the printed page. If you do the latter, scan the excerpt and email it to Becky.
» Prof. Kimble's Editing Tips for Law Reviews (.pdf) - Laminated copies will be available at the workshop.
