Lester Bowles Pearson Canadian Bursary ProgramThe Thomas M. Cooley Law School, consistent in its quest to provide access to excellence, has available to Canadian students an exciting opportunity as they pursue an American law degree. The Lester Bowles Pearson Canadian Bursary is available to Canadian citizens wishing to enroll at Cooley. The scholarship is named after the former Prime Minister of Canada who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957. The Pearson Bursary helps alleviate the financial barrier created by the difference in value between the Canadian and American dollar. This program is available to students in both the J.D. and LL.M. programs. Through the program, scholarships are available to qualified Canadian citizens who demonstrate academic competence, good potential for law study, good moral character, a strong desire for an American legal education and financial need. Guest students and students receiving U.S. Federal aid are not eligible for this scholarship. To apply for the Lester Bowles Pearson Bursary, a prospective student must complete an application and submit a personal statement that addresses the scholarship criteria. Each student applying for the scholarship must have a sponsor who is a member of the Canadian Bar. The sponsor must submit a written statement on official letterhead that addresses the scholarship criteria and the sponsor's willingness to be available to the student for consultation throughout their course of matriculation. For additional information or an application form, contact admissions@cooley.edu.
