Services to Cooley Law School Alumni

Services to Alumni

As a graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School you are offered many of the Library privileges you enjoyed as a student.

To gain admittance to the Library, simply show your new Alumni ID card to the Limited Access monitor stationed in the lobby. If you do not have an alumni ID, go to the Copy Center on the first floor of the Cooley Center located at 300 South Capitol Avenue and one will be made for you at no cost.  The Copy Center staff is available between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The technicians at the Circulation desk will update your patron status to "Alum" in CoolCat, the Law Library's online catalog . Barcodes are automatically printed on your Alumni ID, and this will serve as your library card.

With your status updated, you will be able to check out any circulating library item, including Reserve materials and audiotapes. The Library purchases many items which are especially useful to the newer attorney.

Facilities

As a graduate of Cooley, you have access to our entire print and microform collection. CoolCat, the online catalog, is available twenty-four hours a day via our web site at http://library.cooley.edu . However, alumni should be aware that the Computer Lab facilities are available to currently enrolled students only due to the limited number of available workstations.

Reference Services

The Library has librarian staff who are happy to help you with your research questions. The Reference Desk is staffed seven days a week during the school term, and the Library is open 120 hours per week for your convenience. Our virtual reference service, Ask A Librarian, is also available 24 hours a day, through the CoolCat webpage and in a national first we have a toll free reference number: 1-866-REF-DESK (733-3375) where you can reach us anywhere in the United States.
