Ground-Breaking Partnership to Support Job Growth in the Insurance Industry
Lansing, MI - Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Olivet today formally agreed to establish coordinated curriculum programs aimed at supporting job growth in Michigan’s growing insurance industry. Representatives of Cooley and Olivet signed a partnership agreement during ceremonies in the Insurance Capital Board Room of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. [full story (pdf)]
This program has received ABA acquiescence and Higher Learning Commission accreditation approval.
Classes are being planned now and are scheduled to begin in 2010.
The Insurance LL.M. will have four (4) required courses for a total of twelve (12) required credits, in areas of law such as Insurance Law, Pension and Benefit Plans, Reinsurance Law, and Regulation of Financial Institutions. Several elective courses will be offered each term, to provide a broad exposure to Insurance Law.
The 24-credit LL.M. degree is expected to be offered at Cooley’s Michigan campuses in Auburn Hills, Lansing, and Grand Rapids. The program will be flexible as it is planned to offer:
Weekend courses and some weekday evening sections;
Full availability of classes year-round;
A degree that can be completed in as little as one year or as many as five years.
A student will need to complete a total of 24 credit hours with a B average or better for graduation.
