Federal Programs
Public Interest Law
Congressional legislation encourages law school graduates to work in public interest law. Employment in public interest law (or a non-profit organization) might qualify a student for forgiveness of some federal loan debt.
If you are interested in obtaining information about Public Interest Loan Forgiveness visit the Equal Justice Works site or Department of Education's information on Public Service Loans.
Cohort Default Rates

Debt Reduction
To reduce a student's loan debt, we recommend that a student ask about Federal Work Study and investigate loan forgiveness or an IBR program via the Equal Justice Works site.
An advisor of the Financial Aid Department will meet with any student who wants help reviewing their monthly budget to see how the costs of living may be reduced.
While the reduction of loan debt is an important priority for all law school students, part of Cooley's mission aims to provide all students with both an affordable and a quality education. Responsible use of federal loans is an integral part of student financial aid.
