Monica P. Navarro joined the full-time Cooley Law School Faculty in 2010. Previously, she served as a Visiting Professor in 2009-2010 teaching Civil Procedure I and II, and as an Adjunct Professor in 2008 teaching Health Law. Professor Navarro serves as the faculty advisor for the Hispanic Latino Law Society and the International Concentration at the school’s Auburn Hills, Mich., campus.

In private practice, Professor Navarro was a principal member of Frank, Haron, Weiner and Navarro, in Troy, Mich., 1998-2009, where she specialized in health law and business litigation, and the False Claims Act/Qui Tam litigation. Previously, she was an associate attorney with Keywell and Rosenfeld, in Troy, Mich., 1996-98, specializing in federal litigation, class action litigation and commercial/business litigation.

Professor Navarro also served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Julian Abele Cook Jr., Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit and was an associate attorney with Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago and with Dykema Gossett in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Professor Navarro was named one of the Twenty Women in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2010, as well as a Michigan Super Lawyer in Law and Politics Magazine in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. She was also named one of the Top 50 Michigan Women Lawyers by Law and Politics Magazine during those years, was profiled by the Detroit Free Press and ALMA in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, and won the J.T. Canales Distinguished Alumni Award for the University of Michigan Law School. Additionally, she’s been an honoree and a nominee for Crain's Business Detroit "40 Under 40", was twice appointed to the Michigan Board of Psychology by Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, and was named a Top 10 Qui Tam Lawyer in the Country in Corporate Crime Reporter.

A member of the Michigan and Illinois Bars, Professor Navarro is a frequently published author and serves on a multitude of boards and organizations. She is a member of the board of directors for Southwest Counseling Solutions; a fellow of the Oakland County Bar Foundation; a public member and Chair of the Disciplinary Subcommittee of the State of Michigan Board of Psychology, a member of the State Bar of Michigan Diversity Committee, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan, a Council Member for the State Bar of Michigan Health Law Section, a co-chair of the Health Law Committee of the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Vice-Chair and an Editorial Board member of the ABA's The Health Lawyer.

At Cooley, Professor Navarro teaches Civil Procedure and Health Law.
