Christine Zellar Church joined the full-time Cooley faculty in March 2006. She joined academia from the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee, where she had served as a staff attorney since 1998.

With the Legal Aid Society, Professor Church concentrated on complex litigation in family law, domestic violence, and bankruptcy.

Previous to her service with the Legal Aid Society, she was in private practice with Zellar Church and Associates, 1997-1998. Professor Church’s legal career began with Legal Services of Middle Tennessee (1983-1987). She then worked as a solo practitioner (1987-1990), an associate with the firm of Bagwell, Bagwell, Parker, Riggins and Kennedy (1990-1993), a managing partner with Kennedy Zellar & Associates (1993-1995), and a managing partner in Zellar Cartwright and Love (1995-1997).

Professor Church has been a frequent presenter at Continuing Legal Education seminars on a variety of topics having to do with Tennessee law, as well federal law topics including bankruptcy.

At Cooley, Professor Church is teaching Interviewing and Counseling. She directs the 2006-2007 Client Counseling Competition, supervises a general practice externship class, and works with faculty members in developing new clinical opportunities at all three campuses.
