Professor Buttrey joined Cooley's full-time faculty after having served as a Legal Methods instructor, a research and writing grading assistant, and visiting professor. Her legal work experience includes having served as a research attorney for a circuit court judge in Livingston County, Mich., and doing appellate work.

As a Cooley student, Professor Buttrey won seven American Jurisprudence Awards and Certificates of Merit. She was also a member of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review, where she served as a managing associate.

Professor Buttrey is a member of the Cooley Legal Authors Society. She was the faculty adviser for the former Michigan Opinion Notes, and is the program director for Introduction to Law I and II. She is a faculty specialist with the Academic Resource Center at Cooley.
