Professor Batzer joined the full-time faculty at Cooley in 2009 after having served as a Visiting Professor. During her time as a visitor, Professor Batzer developed and implemented the Public Sector Law Project, a Grand Rapids clinic that partners with governmental units. She also assisted in the development of a legal services project at a residence for the mentally disabled and serves as attorney facilitator for the program.
Professor Batzer served as Kent County Corporate Counsel from 1998-2008, Civil Deputy County Attorney from 1995-1998 and Deputy County Attorney from 1992-1994 for the Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office in Green River, Wyo., as a sole practitioner in 1994, as a law instructor for Western Wyoming Community College from 1992-1995, and as a clerk to the 3rd Judicial District Court in Green River, Wyo. from 1990-1992.
She has given presentations on the Freedom of Information Act, Open Meetings Act, public health law, religion in the workplace, law enforcement legal issues, and disaster preparedness legal issues.
At Cooley, she teaches the Public Sector Law Project, Federal Administrative Law, and Interviewing & Counseling.
