If a student desires credit for supervised work that has not yet been approved by the Curriculum Committee, the student should complete a Clinical Program Application, and submit it, along with (1) a cover letter for each student-initiated site they’re applying to and (2) a resume to the Clinical Coordinator of Planning, Programs, and Assessment. Students will also need to submit a letter of acceptance from the supervising attorney/firm verifying that they have been accepted for an externship position. This letter is not due by the application deadline.
Cooley will contact all prospective field supervisors to review our program. In order to be an approved placement, the field supervisor must have been practicing at least three years and be in good legal standing. Students will not be approved for placements where immediate family members are also working. The Curriculum Committee will review each proposed placement for academic approval.
Applications are available in the Cooley Portal.
