Reciprocity
A Cooley law student or graduate may request reciprocity which may allow him or her to utilize the Career Services of another law school. Students and graduates should make their request to the Career Services Office and we will confirm with the requested law school if reciprocity is available and granted. Call our office at (517) 371-5140, Ext. 4110 or send an e-mail request to tclscss@cooley.edu or fill out the reciprocity form online.
Reciprocity Policy for Graduates of Other Law Schools
The Career Services Office of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School is happy to assist students and graduates of other law schools. Please note the following:
- A reciprocity request letter must be sent from the law school you graduated prior to granting reciprocity.
- Reciprocity will be honored for a period of six months from the initial appointment. Requests for renewal will be considered on an individual basis.
- Individuals granted reciprocity must schedule an initial appointment within six months, and sign in for each visit.
- Counseling appointments are available, but must be scheduled in advance. Thomas M. Cooley Law School students and graduates have priority. In addition, the following services will be provided:
- Access to job placement bulletins (except "blind postings" and job hotline)
- Career Resource Library (in-house use only)
- Subscribers can receive the Classifieds twice a month via US mail or e-mailed weekly; A subscription to the graduate edition of the Cooley Classifieds is $25.00 for 6 months and $50.00 for a year.
- Reciprocity will not be granted or honored from August 15 to November 15. Participation in on-campus interviews is not allowed.
- Office hours are Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm However, it is best to call to verify the hours as we sometimes alter our schedule. Our telephone number is (517) 371-5140, Ext. 4110.
We look forward to working with the students and graduates of other law schools. While it is necessary to establish guidelines for the use of our facilities, we wish to emphasize that we consider ourselves a service oriented operation, and have been known to be flexible. If special needs or situations need to be accommodated, please call us. We will do our best to accommodate you.
