A. Weekly Job
Listings: The Cooley Classifieds consist of two editions: the Graduate
Edition, which lists jobs that require a juris doctor, and the Student
Edition which lists jobs that are available to students. The Student
Edition is automatically e-mailed to the Cooley student list each Friday.
The Graduate Edition is also automatically e-mailed to both third year
students and recent graduates. Upon request, alumni and paying subscribers
can receive the Graduate Edition through either e-mail or postal mail.
Hard copies of both editions are also available in the Career Services
Office.
B. National
Employment Listings: The Career Services Office subscribes to national
employment listings that can be viewed and copied in our office. These
publications include:

C. Job Bulletin
Exchange: Our office receives job bulletins from over 100 other
law schools on a regular basis. Students interested in practicing law
in a specific state or geographical region will find these bulletins helpful
for researching the legal job market.
D. News & Notices: Is a monthly publication focused
towards the students. The News and Notices provides valuable information
regarding scholarships, fellowships, writing competitions, career programs,
job fairs, internships, state bar information, LL.M. programs, conferences,
helpful tips for their career search, and resources which are available
in the Career Services Office.
E. Programs
for Minorities: The Career Services Offices participates in
numerous job fairs and conferences that aspire to broaden the opportunities
of minority students in the legal community. These programs include:

Fairs and Conferences: The Career Services Office participates in
various job fairs and conferences to assist students who are seeking to
specialize in a particular area of law. These programs include:
- Midwest Public Interest Law Career Conference
- Equal Justice Works Career Fair and Conference
- Patent Law Interview Program
- NAPIL Public Interest Job Fair
G. Career Library:
The career library, housed in our Career Resource Center, features
a wide variety of resources. Books on resume and cover letter writing,
practice areas, starting your own practice, internships, government jobs,
and exploring non-legal careers are available. Faxing and computer services
are also available for students to use in their job search.
H. Newspapers: The
Career Services Office receives legal newspapers that list employment
opportunities. They include:
- The Chronicle of Higher Education
- Lawyers Weekly USA
- Michigan Lawyers Weekly
- The National Law Journal
I. Fall On-Campus
Interview Season (FOCIS): Mid-September through mid-November, our
office sponsors the fall recruiting interviewing season. During this time,
firms, government agencies, corporations, and legal services agencies
conduct on-campus interviews, or resume collections. Sign up begins in
Mid-July. Watch your mailbox for more info.
J. Workshops
and Special Programs: The Career Services Office sponsors career-related
workshops. Past topics have included: The Judge Advocate General's Corps,
Mock Interview Programs, and Interview Technique Workshops.
K. On-line Resources:
The Career Services Office can refer students and alumni to a range
of career related websites, including www.emplawyernet.com,
one of the nation's largest legal job banks.
