Associate Dean of Career and Professional Development
Charles R. Toy is the Associate Dean of Career and Professional Development. Before joining Cooley, Dean Toy was in private practice for 28 years, in large, medium, and small law firms, where he practiced in the areas of church law, environmental and natural resources law, and criminal and commercial litigation.

Lisa L. FadlerLisa L. Fadler [BIO]
Assistant Dean of Career and Professional Development
Lisa L. Fadler is the Assistant Dean of Career and Professional Development at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She supervises the school’s career services offices and works with prospective employers to develop job opportunities for students and alumni.

 

Lansing Campus

Karen M. PooleKaren M. Poole
Career and Professional Development Coordinator
Karen M. Poole is the Career and Professional Development Coordinator at Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Lansing campus. In addition to counseling students and alumni regarding their legal careers, she focuses on In-House Counsel opportunities. Prior to coming to Cooley, Ms. Poole was a legal reporter for Michigan Lawyers Weekly and worked in private practice for the Law Office of Catherine Groll, P.C., and Sinas, Dramis, Brake, Boughton, and McIntyre, P.C., specializing in No-Fault law. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and NALP - The Association for Legal Career Professionals. Ms. Poole is a 1990 Thomas M. Cooley Law School graduate, where she was the Law Review Casenote Editor, and she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Michigan State University in 1983.

Darla BradfordDarla Bradford
Administrative Assistant
Darla Bradford is the Administrative Assistant for the Career and Professional Development Office at the Lansing campus of Thomas M. Cooley Law School and runs the Lansing Cooley Volunteer Corps program. Ms. Bradford received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a secondary study in Marketing, at Michigan State University in 2004. While attending MSU, she was an active member of the co-ed professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. She also counsels grieving children at Ele's Place in Lansing where she is a volunteer facilitator.

Dianne HerbinDianne Herbin
Recruiting Assistant
Dianne Herbin is the Recruitment Assistant in the Career and Professional Development Office, at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Lansing campus. As the recruitment assistant, Ms. Herbin provides administrative support for on-campus interviews, special events, and other recruitment services. She also serves as the liaison between the Career Services Department and employers, and gathers all the material submitted by students and alumni searching for employment opportunities.

Sheri WrightSheri Wright
Secretary
Sheri Wright supports the Director of Career and Professional Development in fostering and developing quality student interactions with incoming and enrolled students, alumni, and other constituents. Ms. Wright is responsible for researching, inputting, proofing, and distributing the Cooley Classifieds and also serves as a reciprocity liaison to other law school career development offices. Ms. Wright graduated from Baker College in 2000 with an Associate’s in Business Management.

Grand Rapids Campus

Danielle HallDanielle Hall
Career and Professional Development Coordinator
Danielle Hall is a Career and Professional Development Coordinator at Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Grand Rapids campus. In addition to counseling students and alumni on career exploration and job search strategies, Ms. Hall specializes in job fairs and public interest opportunities. Before joining the CPD staff, Ms. Hall was an associate at Moritz and Verde, P.C., a family law and criminal defense practice. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan-Western Region where she has served as president and a board member, and she is a member of NALP - The Association for Legal Career Professionals. Ms. Hall obtained her Juris Doctor in 2001 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University in 1997. As the 2009 Great Deeds Award - Grand Rapids Campus Recipient, Ms. Hall was recognized for her enthusiasm and commitment to Cooley and to the communities in which she works and lives.

Kaleena KowalkowskiKaleena Kowalkowski
Career and Professional Development Coordinator
Kaleena Kowalkowski is a Career and Professional Development Coordinator and the Cooley Volunteer Corps Coordinator at Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Grand Rapids campus. In addition to counseling students and running the Cooley Volunteer Corps, Ms. Kowalkowski is the CPD’s Symplicity systems administrator. In 2010, Ms. Kowalkowski received her Master's of Public Administration from Grand Valley State University and she received her Bachelor's of Social Work from Ferris State University in 2005. Ms. Kowalkowski serves on the Grand Rapids Board of Zoning and Appeals and is a board member of the Heartside Business Association. She is a member of the Grand Rapids Young Professionals, and The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.

Auburn Hills Campus

Shari F. Lesnick
Career and Professional Development Coordinator
Shari F. Lesnick is a Career and Professional Development Coordinator at Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus. In addition to career coaching, Ms. Lesnick specializes in Fellowships and law firm opportunities. Before joining Cooley, Ms. Lesnick had her own entertainment law practice representing national and international clients. She began her legal career in New York as in-house counsel for music impresario Tommy Mottola and served as a corporate counsel for Time Warner, Inc. and as Director of Business Affairs for its subsidiary Atlantic Records, Inc. Ms. Lesnick has published on a variety of topics and has served as a panelist or keynote speaker for various organizations including Michigan's Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Ms. Lesnick is a 1979 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1982 she earned a Juris Doctor from Southwestern University Law School where she was on the Law Review. Ms. Lesnick is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Arts, Communication, Entertainment and Sports Section of the Michigan Bar Association, and NALP - The Association for Legal Career Professionals.

Alana M. GlassAlana M. Glass
Career and Professional Development Coordinator
Alana M. Glass currently serves as a Career and Professional Development Coordinator at Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus. In addition to advising students on career planning and innovative job-search strategies, she specializes in alternative legal careers. Prior to joining Cooley, Ms. Glass was a patent analyst at Cardinal Intellectual Property in Evanston, Illinois. She received her Juris Doctor from Cooley in 2006, an LL.M. in Intellectual Property in 2006, and an LL.M. in Corporate Law and Finance in 2011. Ms. Glass obtained her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2002 from the University of Minnesota’s College of Agriculture Food and Environmental Science. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association, and NALP - The Association for Legal Career Professionals.

Tampa Bay Campus

Bradley H. MerrittBradley H. Merritt
Career and Professional Development Coordinator
Bradley H. Merritt is a Career and Professional Development Coordinator at Thomas M. Cooley Law School's Tampa Bay campus. In addition to counseling students and alumni on job search strategies, Mr. Merritt specializes in judicial clerkships. Before joining the Cooley staff, Mr. Merritt worked at the Meridian Law Center in the area of oil and gas law, business transactions and estate planning. In 2008, Mr. Merritt received his Juris Doctor from Cooley and a Master's in City and Regional Planning from the University of Memphis. In 2002, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Charleston. Mr. Merritt is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia Young Lawyers Section, the American Bar Association, the U. of Memphis Young Alumni Association and sits on the Potter Park Zoo Board.
