The mission of the Cooley Law School Library System is to provide faculty, staff, and students access to resources, instruction, and services that are paramount to the Law School’s objective of advancing practical legal scholarship. The Library is committed to offering services that promote legal research and meet the information needs of its primary users. In pursuit of this mission, the Library provides information and materials through a wide range of print, multimedia, and electronic resources. |
Cooley’s current Brennan Library facility opened in 1991. At the time, Cooley’s student enrollment was 1,566, the Library contained 307,000 volumes, and the school employed 19 full-time and 13 part-time library staff. In keeping with Cooley’s desire to rehabilitate existing structures rather than build new, the Brennan Library was created when Cooley purchased and remodeled a vacated J.C. Penney department store. Built to Cooley’s high standards, the result was a beautiful 65,000 square foot facility that tripled the available library space. |
