August 27, 2008 Freshmen Begin Law Studies at Cooley
Cooley Law School in Grand Rapids welcomed its freshman class of 153 law students at orientation on August 27, 2008. Forty-five per cent of the students are women, and sixty-eight per cent come from a state other than Michigan. The most represented states outside Michigan are Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, California, and New York. At orientation, students heard presentations on legal analysis, time management, critical reading, notetaking, and the Honor Code, and had the opportunity to meet their Ambassador, an upperclass Cooley student assigned to them as a mentor. Optional orientation sessions on August 29 included presentations on financial aid, surviving law school with a relationship intact, and getting involved in student government and student organizations.
