Author Thomas DeFrank signs copies of his book "Write It When I'm Gone: Remarkable Off-the-Record Conversations with President Ford" following his presentation at Cooley Law School's Grand Rapids Campus.

Thomas DeFrank, author of "Write It When I’m Gone: Remarkable Off-the-Record Conversations with Gerald R. Ford", was the featured speaker at Cooley’s Notable Books presentation on May 14, 2008.

Mr. DeFrank spoke to a group of Cooley students, faculty, staff, and guests in the Grand Rapids Law Center, and recounted some of his fascinating conversations with President Ford.  As a professional friend of Ford’s for 32 years, Mr. DeFrank was privy to some of Ford’s innermost thoughts on his relationship with Richard Nixon, his experiences serving on the Warren Commission, his complex relationships with Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter; and his view about both Bush administrations.

Mr. DeFrank is the Washington bureau chief of the New York Daily News, and served as Newsweek’s White House correspondent for 25 years.  A reception and book-signing followed his presentation at the Grand Rapids campus.
