Present at the GR Branch Campus Celebration were (from l to r) President and Dean Don LeDuc, Daisy Benavides (first-term GR student), Associate Dean Marion Hilligan, and Mayor George Heartwell.

The GR Campus held a party on September 13 to celebrate its designation by the American Bar Association as a full branch campus.

Don LeDuc, Cooley's President and Dean, welcomed the guests to the Cooley Law Center and expressed his delight at being able to offer the full J.D. program to students in Grand Rapids. He introduced Daisy Benavidez, a first-term Cooley student, who was able to realize her dream of entering law school because of Cooley's location in her hometown of Grand Rapids. Daisy is the first member of her family to graduate from high school and college, and to attend law school.

The Mayor of Grand Rapids, George Heartwell, also spoke at the event, and said how much Cooley's presence brings to the local community.

A reception followed in the law library. A planned hot air balloon launch was unable to be held due to inclement weather.
