Cooley Associate Dean Lynn Branham Speaks at Annual Kent County Violence Prevention Coalition Conference on Bullying

On January 30th, over 100 educators, law enforcement personnel, health care workers, and social services professionals attended a conference on bullying at Western Michigan University’s Conference Center, co-sponsored by the GR Campus of Cooley.

Associate Dean Lynn Branham welcomed attendees to the conference, explaining that the law school wanted to be involved in this event, because “law, at its best, doesn’t just respond to problems – it helps to avert them.”

Keynote speaker Professor Glenn Stutzky from the Michigan State University School of Social Work told the audience that “Bullying is the engine driving the majority of violence in this country.” According to Stutzky, bullying is an epidemic that reaches far into the adult world. The program was an annual conference of the Kent County Violence Prevention Coalition, which focuses on a specific type of violence each year.
