Cooley Law School in Grand Rapids was honored recently with the top award given by the Neighborhood Business Alliance, Inc. At the awards ceremony on Nov. 11, Cooley was awarded the Gerald R. Helmholdt Grand Prize "honoring the best in revitalization and community building efforts by a neighborhood business." Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell told those assembled for the awards ceremony that Cooley had provided a service by bringing a law school to the Grand Rapids community, in addition to helping revitalize the Heartside District with the building renovation. Some 100 businesses in the city's 20 business districts were nominated for renovations in a variety of categories. The grand prize is awarded to the best project of all those nominated.
