Grand Rapids Area Alums Host Get-Together

Cooley’s western Michigan alumni gathered on June 16, 2005, at GP Sports located in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, in downtown Grand Rapids. Twenty alumni and friends of the law school joined hosts Aletha Honsowitz (Witherell Class 1990) and Alumni Relations Director Darryl Parsell (Wiest Class 1979) at the event.

Lisa Pohl (Kuhn Class 1995) and Aletha Honsowitz, Head of Public Services for the Cooley GR library, organized the get-together, as a result of their service on a new alumni committee, created by the reorganization of the Alumni Association last October. The Special Events Committee, chaired by Julie Clement (McDonald Class 1998) has the mission to plan, organize, and conduct alumni events.

President and Dean Don LeDuc, Alumni Association President and Cooley Board Member Charles Toy (Kavanagh Class 1981), Associate Dean of the Grand Rapids Campus Marion Hilligan (Johnson Class 1989), and Associate Dean of Development James Robb welcomed the guest to the gathering.

Additional Cooley staff on hand included Assistant to the President and Assistant Legal Counsel Cherie Beck (Flannigan Class 1999), GR Campus Career Services Coordinator Danielle Hall (Blair Class 2001), GR Assistant Dean Nelson Miller, and GR Deputy Campus Director Joan Rosema-David (Jay Class 2000).

In addition to the staff and distinguished guests already mentioned, alumni attending included Maureen Burns Van Hoven (Grant Class 1987), Barbara Craft (Ransom Class 1978), Marc Daneman (Bacon Class 1990), Ronald Foster (Durand Class 1992), Paul Fox (Sherwood Class 1986), Gordon Haan (Swainson Class 2003), Lynn Perry (Blair Class 1983), James Richards (Broke Class 1982), Elizabeth Train Gauthier (Wilson Class 2001), Stacy Van Dyken (Johnson Class 2002), and Pamela Wynn-Quada ( Stone Class 1996).
