Thomas M. Cooley Law Library at Auburn Hills
Our collection includes U.S. Supreme Court cases from 1882 to the present, all federal cases and West’s Regional Reporters beginning with the second series of publication, thus providing access to case law from all jurisdictions, with corresponding digests and Shepard’s volumes.
The Michigan Collection includes all volumes of Michigan Reports since 1940, all volumes of Michigan Appeals Reports, both Michigan Compiled Laws Annotated and Michigan Compiled Laws Service, as well as two digest series for Michigan case law — Callaghan’s Michigan Digest and West’s Michigan Digest. Lexis, Westlaw, Matthew Bender and Hein Online provide electronic access to additional case law, treatises and law journals. Secondary sources are also available, including the American Jurisprudence and Corpus Juris Secundum legal encyclopedias, Michigan Law Practice Encyclopedia, Michigan Civil Jurisprudence, and the entire series of American Law Reports.
Numerous multi-volume treatises are part of the collection, including Powell on Real Property, Thompson on Real Property, Williston on Contracts, Corbin on Contracts, Wharton’s Criminal Law, Chisum on Patents, McCarthy on Trademarks and Unfair Competition, and Mertens Law of Federal Income Taxation. Other titles can be acquired as needed from the Lansing library via a daily shuttle delivery service. Study aids, such as hornbooks and nutshells, as well as all course reserves for Oakland classes, are all on reserve at the library circulation desk.
