Frank Aiello
Professor Aiello represented the Oakland Land Conservancy, pro bono, in acquiring a conservation easement against 60 acres of natural area in Oakland Township. Oakland Township, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Community Foundation of South East Michigan all contributed to the funding needed to purchase the easement and land.
Tammy Asher
Professor Asher volunteered in a Kindergarten class and participated in a luncheon to celebrate the college admission of a Pontiac Northern senior, Kiki Anderson.
Stevie Barachkov
Professor Barachkov was appointed to the Michigan Land Title Standards Committee of the State Bar of Michigan.
Professor Barachkov facilitated the donation and delivery of $575 in cash and gift cards to the Oakland County Schools Homeless Education Project in Pontiac.
Professor Barachkov facilitated the donation and delivery of coats, hats, backpacks, gloves, scarves and school supplies to the Homeless Education Project.
Professor Barachkov has collected 93 dresses towards the Pontiac Northern Prom Dress Drive. She has also facilitated the donation of jewelry, shoes purses and tuxedo money to the cause.
James Carey
Professor Carey took the lead role with two other lawyers in the drafting and filing of an Amicus Curiae brief with the Michigan Supreme Court in the case of Miller v Allstate. The Court had requested that the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan file an Amicus Curiae position in the matter.
Jerry Fisher
Professor Fisher was recognized for his contributions to the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) by being featured as a notable contributor in ICLE's "This Week in Michigan Law."
Lisa Halushka
Professor Halushka was named contributing editor for 4th Amendment issues for the American Bar Association's Supreme Court Review, a periodical that reviews upcoming Supreme Court cases.
Professor Halushka is the contributing editor for Criminal Procedure for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education's online resource.
Professor Halushka has collaborated with CARE House for Cooley AH students to provide volunteer services to the organization on an ongoing basis.
Lew Langham
Professor Langham participated in Success on Saturdays at Pontiac Northern High School.
Professor Langham graduated from Michigan State University’s School of Social Science, Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP) as a Fellow. MPLP is a bipartisan fellowship program for those committed to greater involvement in the public policy process.
Professor Langham participated as a speaker/trainer in the Michigan Youth in Government Mock Trial Competition.
Professor Langham served as a judge at the Michigan High School Mock Trial Competition held at the Oakland County Circuit Court.
Professor Langham attended the Wolverine Barristers Ball in Detroit.
Professor Langham served as a judge for Cooley's Moot Court competition.
Professor Langham provided, on behalf of the Washtenaw County Public Defenders Office, pro bono representation on a Washtenaw County felony offense.
Lauren Rousseau
Professor Rousseau and Professor D'Isa received a publishing contract from Aspen Publishing for a Civil Procedure Multiple Choice Problem Book that they are co-authoring.
Joan Vestrand
Dean Vestrand continued to plan and attend Success on Saturdays with Pontiac Northern High School.
Dean Vestrand represented Cooley at the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation's Annual Scholarship Banquet and congratulated the Cooley students who were awarded scholarships at the event.
Dean Vestrand hosted Cooley students at the Oakland County Bar Association's Inn of Court program.
