Public and International LawThis concentration covers administrative law, constitutional law, civil rights law, and international law courses. It will interest students who wish to pursue careers in administrative law, public interest, or government service. For students desiring an administrative law practice, this concentration offers advanced courses in administrative law as well as in the substantive matters that are typically addressed by government agencies, such as environmental protection and labor relations. Students who wish to become public interest lawyers can take courses in the areas of civil rights, civil liberties, anti-discrimination law, and advanced constitutional law. Students who wish to go into government service can take courses covering the legislative process, statutory drafting, and election law. Externship opportunities will include placements in governmental agencies, courts and legislative offices, advocacy groups, and other organizations addressing matters of public concern. This concentration will also interest those students who wish to study international law. These students can take advanced course in both public and private international law. These courses will help them pursue careers with governmental organizations, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations that deal with international law. Students may use these courses to prepare for an international business practice or to increase their international interests and understanding.
