Thomas M. Cooley Law School ConcentrationsThomas M. Cooley Law
School offers all students the option of focusing their third year curriculum
in a specific area of study. For each concentration, the faculty has selected
a number of electives that are designed to familiarize a student with the
problems that might be encountered in a certain field of practice.
Every student at Cooley must complete 90 credit hours to graduate. Of these, 63 credit hours are required courses. Students who elect to enter a concentration will be required to take certain core courses, then choose from a menu of electives in the area. Each concentration requires a student to complete certain credit hours in that concentration and allows the remaining credit hours of electives to be selected from any courses in the curriculum. Cooley now offers third
year concentrations in the following areas: Business Transactions
Students who complete all the requirements of a concentration will be issued a certificate at graduation, indicating that they have earned a certificate in the chosen field. Students may earn more than one certificate of concentration. Additional electives may be developed and added to the menus for each of the concentrations. If you have questions about a specific concentration, feel free to speak to that concentrations chairperson. If you have general questions about the concentrations, feel free to speak with Associate Dean Ann Miller, the Coordinator of Planning and Programs, or Registrar Sherida Wysocki. Questions about any specific concentration should be addressed to the concentration chair.
